God is all you have

Phil 1 21

21 For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. 22 If, however, it is to be life here and I am to go on living, this will mean useful and productive service for me; so I do not know which to choose.

If The Lord is our source for Joy and Strength then He should be the only reason we have to live. That certainly takes away any need for us to gain our strength or self-esteem from our own money, relationships, or accomplishment to an ongoing growing relationship with The Lord.

OK… I get it. This sounds so religious, but God is not about the religion or doctrine of it all… He is about the relationship. Isn’t it interesting that Satan desperately tries to revolve our self-esteem and self-worth from our environment, and in this verse, God is saying that He wants to replace the very thing we are depending on… our environment!

God does not want to be part of what you’re doing. Rather, he wants to be the entire reason you’re doing it.

Imagine if you could choose to be with the Lord in heaven or stay here and continue in your life on earth. If the choice was yours to make, what would your reason be to stay? And what would be your reason to go?

If you would choose to be with God in heaven to escape this life… that would be like marrying a girl just because you’re tired of being single. WOW… What a marriage that would be. On the other hand, Imagine that you would choose to stay on earth because of all the wonderful things you have… What do both of these answers say about your relationship with the Lord?

A confusing and complicated as all this may sound, God is simply saying that He wants to be the reason we would want to go and the reason we would want to stay. That way no matter what happens you will remain in peace, Joy, and God’s amazing blessing.

The Apostle Paul understood that heaven was the best place to be, and it is. But Paul also knew he was here for a reason bigger than himself. His Call led Him to choose to follow His God instead of lean back on his greatest desire.

What are you leaning on? What is your source? Are you willing to give up your greatest desire to follow Christ? Of course it’s not easy. But the reward is a Heavenly Father who loves you, defends you, and will bring His very best to your Life.

So the easy question is. What do you want most in your life? Your best or God’s best. I hope you will choose God’s best today and start winning the battles in your life.
